The cost of rejecting Huawei, White Paper for Facebook Coin and data leakage from Russian banks.

The EU will spend $ 62 billion on 5G or more because of the ban of Huawei

The rejection of Huawei will cost Europe $ 62 billion. This is how much the cost of deploying infrastructure for 5G networks will increase, if the European Union prohibits the purchase of telecommunications equipment from Chinese companies such as Huawei and ZTE, said analysts at GSMA Intelligence. These two manufacturers account for more than 40% of the EU telecom equipment market.

In addition to the rising cost of construction, the rejection of Huawei will lead to a delay in the deployment of 5G networks by about 18 months. GSMA has already raised concerns about the implications of a total ban on Huawei, whose products are widely bought and used by operators in Europe.

GSMA represents the interests of 750 mobile operators.

Russian banks leaked personal data of nearly a million customers

The data of OTP Bank, Alfa-Bank and HKF-Bank customers were made publicly available. The leak affects the total of about 900 thousand Russians, whose names, phone numbers, passports and places of work are now on the darknet, Kommersant writes. DeviceLock experts reported two leaks from Alfa Bank, the first is dated 2014–2015, and the second — 2018–2019. Among the clients whose data appeared on the network are about 500 employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and about 40 people from the FSB. Data leakage from HCF-Bank covers about 24.4 thousand customers: in addition to phone numbers, addresses and passport data, it indicates the credit limit.

OTP Bank made the largest leak: data on 800 thousand users throughout Russia, including credit limits and passport data, are now circulating in the public domain. This illegal database dates from the fall of 2013. Although the bases are outdated, many phones and passport data are still relevant. Fraudsters can take advantage of the information and victims trust and get access to current financial accounts.

Facebook will publish White Paper for its cryptocurrency on June 18

Facebook will publish White Paper for its cryptocurrency, which will be called either GlobalCoin or Libra, on June 18, reports TechCrunch, citing the statement by Facebook European account manager Laura McCracken, made at the Money2020 conference. It is also expected that the digital currency will be presented at the end of this month.

According to The Information publication, 100 nodes will be launched first in the GlobalCoin network, with a total commission income of $ 1 billion. But to become an operator of GlobalCoin nodes, companies will have to pay at least $ 10 million. Although there are few technical details about GlobalCoin, from an architectural point of view, the network is likely to be similar to the delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPOS), which works, for example, on the EOS network.

Emerging economies are not ready to abandon Huawei

While the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan and other advanced economies are discussing the possibility of banning the use of Huawei products, emerging economies are not willing to refuse to cooperate with a Chinese manufacturer. Brazilian Vice President Hamilton Mourao said the government would not prohibit cooperating with Huawei. Brazil, the largest economy in Latin America, plans to launch the first 5G networks next year. Mobile operator TIM Participacoes announced that the company uses Huawei technology to conduct 5G network tests in the southern regions of Brazil.

Russia also has no plans to refuse to cooperate with Huawei. Huawei agreed with the Russian operator MTS on the deployment of 5G. The parties signed an agreement during the St. Petersburg Economic Forum. It implies active cooperation in 2019–2020. The signing of the agreement was attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

“The fact that the President of Russia and the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China … were present at the ceremony confirms how important are technological partnerships for Russia and China,” said Huawei Chairman of the Board Guo Ping.
