Growing tensions between the US and China, the most expensive mobile communications and Facebook’s own cryptocurrency.

Huawei reported growth in 5G hardware sales

Huawei Technologies announced that it has concluded more than 25 commercial contracts for the supply of 5G network equipment. This is more than the Chinese manufacturer managed to conclude in November. Then Huawei has achieved 22 commercial contracts.

In December, Huawei shipped over 10,000 base stations for 5G networks. This was announced by the chairman of the company Ken Hu during a press conference in China.

Although the number of contracts is growing, market participants continue to fear that the closure of the American market and the ban on the supply of 5G equipment to Australia, New Zealand and partly to Japan will adversely affect its financial performance.

The authorities of Western countries accuse Huawei of collaborating with the Chinese authorities and introducing spy microchips into 5G equipment.

The US and China have exchanged mutual accusations against cyber espionage

On Thursday, the US Justice Department filed charges against two Chinese citizens for hacker attacks against the United States and eleven more in the interests of Chinese intelligence.

“Since 2014, our ministry has paid attention to China’s criminal activity in cyberspace … More than 90% of cases in the past seven years are related to China’s industrial espionage. More than two thirds of our cases of theft of intellectual property and theft of technology are related to China,” Deputy Prosecutor General of the United States Rod Rosenstein.

The next day, China protested and made a presentation to the United States in connection with accusations against Chinese citizens in cyber espionage. The US Foreign Ministry has called the US accusations “falsified facts and fiction.”

Canada and the United States — the leaders in the ranking of the most expensive mobile communications

Residents of Canada pay the highest price for communication services among all the other G7 countries. Such data are presented in the annual report of the Federal Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development of Canada (ISED). Canada shares place with the United States and in certain categories (for example, the cost of tariffs with unlimited calls) with Japan. The report covers mobile communications in the G7 countries only — Canada, USA, UK, France, Italy, Germany, Japan, and also in Australia.

Facebook launches its own cryptocurrency

The social network cryptocurrency rate will be tied to the US dollar, and the cryptocurrency itself can be sent through the Facebook-owned WhatsApp messenger, according to Bloomberg, citing informed sources.

The first market in which it is planned to launch the project will be India. In India, WhatsApp is highly popular with about 200 million users, and India is the leader in the remittance market. According to the World Bank, in 2017, $ 69 billion was transferred to India.

Rumors about this circulated on the market a long time ago, especially after the former president of PayPal payment service, David Markus, headed the blockchain division of Facebook, which employs about 40 people.

In early 2018, the founder of Facebook social network Mark Zuckerberg wrote about his intention to study cryptocurrency technologies in 2018 and analyze the possibility of their integration into Facebook.

EncryptoTel completes testing of telecommunications blockchain-oriented platform

The past week was final in the testing process for our team. Our developers have completed the verification of the cloud web application of the EncryptoTel platform and the search for vulnerabilities in mobile applications for Android and iOS. There are only small issues, mainly related to the interface and design.

In the near future, we plan to finish all the fixes so that both mobile and web applications of EncryptoTel will be not only reliable, but also easy to use. After that, we will begin the process of a full-scale platform launch — the world’s first blockchain-oriented system created specifically for telecommunications. Stay in touch!
