Television and credit cards from Apple, dissatisfaction with Telegram and growing market for IVR
Apple held their first conference in 2019 and presented new services
American IT-giant Apple told about new products of the company, among which are subscriptions to magazines and newspapers Apple News+, games, a credit card and a streaming service Apple TV+.
1. Apple News+ provides access to articles in over 300 various publications for a $10 monthly fee. The first month of using is free.
2. Apple Arcade subscription gives access to more than 100 exclusive games. Among game developers for the new service are Konami and Sega. But you will be able to play on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, and subscription will be launched in the autumn of 2019 in more than 150 countries.
3. Apple TV+ is an online movie theater with exclusive shows, movies and series. Besides the content from external producers (HBO, Showtime, Starz и CBS and streaming services Amazon Prime и Hulu), Apple will start production of their own movies and TV-shows. Thus, the morning show will be hosted by an actress Reese Witherspoon, “Friends” star Jennifer Aniston and a comedy actor Steve Carell, travel show will host Jason Momoa that won widespread popularity after the “Game of Thrones”, and one of the video projects will be headed by an Oscar-winning film director Steven Spielberg.
4. Credit Apple Card will be available without maintenance fees for any iPhone owner. Apple Card holders are promised to have a 3% cashback for shops purchases, 2% for purchases with Apple Pay and 1%-via physical card. But so far the product is planned for launch only on the territory of USA.
Telegram update caused critics among the users
On March 24 Telegram launched an update, through which the users were entitled to delete any messages from private chats, including their interlocutor`s messages. Earlier the users could delete only their own messages and only within 48 hours after publication.
Like the other updates, it was announced on Pavel Durov`s channel.
“An old message that you have already forgotten about can be ripped out of context and used against you decades later. A hasty text that you`ve sent to your school friend can haunt you in 2030 when you will decide to run for mayor” — wrote Durov.
According to his words, an ability to delete any messages in Telegram returns into user`s hands “control over their own digital footprints”.
But as user survey showed, that Durov held on March 27, about 52% from 1,1 mln accounts are negative towards the launched update. The main claim is that the deleting of messages is happening without any notifications. This opens a window for abuse and concealment of any correspondence tracks.
A research: IVR-systems market will grow up to $5,5 bln by 2023
Average annual growth rate of interactive voice response (IVR) will make up 6,82%, says the Global Interactive Voice Response research. If in 2017 the market was estimated at $3,74 billion, then by the year 2023 it will reach $5,55. Main growth drivers are integration of advanced technologies and increasing demand for such services.
The most active users of IVR are and will remain financial and banking organizations. They are having the largest market share in 2017. And they will be the main investors for the development of new solutions for IVR.
Other industries using IVR will become tourism, health care, telecommunications, the public sector, transport and logistics, retail trade.
Russian Ministry of Defense refuses to transfer frequencies for 5G to telecommunication operators
While in Europe are being held auctions for the sale of spectrum for the new generation 5G networks deployment, a security service in Russia is trying to slow down the commercialization process of this sphere. Ministry of Defense considers transmission of frequencies for 5G to mobile operators to be premature, stated in agency report about the project of perception and development of such networks in Russia. This project has been developed by the Office of Telecommunications and submitted for the consideration into various ministries in the beginning of March.
According to the source in the Government, applicable frequencies 3,4–3,8 GHz in the standard of 5G for which there is commercial equipment in Russia, are occupied by communications for military purposes. Without these frequencies “ it will be 5G only by name, and without a real 5G unmanned transport, telemedicine, Internet of Things, etc. are impossible”. So the expected 5G networks deployment in 2020 in Russia apparently shifts for later dates.
